Will I be questioned when I arrive back to the U.S.?

We ask our travellers to tell of their experience passing through border security on their return to the U.S. after visiting Cuba. The comments below are from real travellers who have visited Cuba. Were they asked questions by the immigration official, and if so, which questions? Were they asked to show paperwork? What was the reaction by the immigration official?

When returning to the U.S. you need to have your trip itinerary, travel affidavit, trip diary, and know the name of the license category of your legal trip to Cuba. See more about how to make a legal trip to Cuba

I flew with American Airlines from New York via Miami. In New York was presented the list of the reason to travel, to point one ( I pointed #8 support of local people ) . Waiting for the departure I filled up The Tourist card. Then in Miami I did my visa on the spot. There was a Cuban Travel representative by the desk helping people to do the visa application. I did mine without much help. I paid $50 for the visa and $50 to that Cuban Services agency.

Our experience with US immigration in Houston was straightforward. The only thing that the immigration officer asked us is if we are bringing back tobacco or alcohol.

Had no issues at all. Had bags scanned and was able to proceed without any delay/issues. Was only asked if I brought back any alcohol or fresh produce.
