Yummet was fanatastic. Her English is great and I always felt she was looking out for our best interest and made sure we were having a good time. I feel fortunate that Yummet was our tour leader. She is top notch!!
Other meals: There were a couple of restaurants where we stopped on the way to somewhere else (e.g. when travelling to Cienfuegos), and they were quite more pricey than others (for the same food) and we did not really have an alternative. Maybe the cost for these restaurants (obliged stops along the way) could be embedded in the overall cost of the trip, instead of paying cash there and more than in other places, given there were no real alternatives.
The Booking Process: We would have liked to know in advance about the possible major power outages and to be advised to exchange at least a little money in the airport (the information seemed to suggest not to change any money until we met the guide, but then it was very hard to exchange any money anywhere else).
Experience with US immigration: No issues at all. We had the most issues getting into Cuba at customs, but none coming back.
I’m very thankful for the tour guide she helped me see the real Cuba. A few of my friends want to travel to Cuba. There is a big misconception of Cuba and I set things right for them. I would love to go back in the future.
I have just returned from Cuban Adventure’s 15 Day Canchanchara to Cucurucho trip. I highly recommend this excursion to anyone who really wants to interact with the local people and learn about their history, their culture and their way of life in general. It’s sure to be an adventure of a lifetime!
