Tour Description
Explore the soul of Cuban identity through its famed rum and cigars, both of which have been recognised by UNESCO as part of Cuba's intangible cultural heritage.
Your journey begins with a visit to a working factory to witness the meticulous hand-rolling techniques that create the famous Cuban cigar. Afterwards, you will take a deep dive into the unique process that Cuba uses to create its most widely recognised national rum brand at the Rum Museum. You will learn how the rum masters in the elite guild transmit scientific and sensory expertise to safeguard the 150-year-old Cuban rum-making process.
Over lunch and a traditional cocktail lesson you’ll get to know more about your guide and Cuban society. Ask all the questions you have about life in Cuba and get helpful tips for the rest of your stay.
Lastly, we’ll visit a cigar bar or tasting room to enjoy the perfect “marriage” of a Cuban cigar, a Cuban coffee and a Cuban rum in a very traditional ceremony called Maridaje. Your knowledgeable guide will show you the traditional way to light up a cigar with a cedar stick and lead you through the ritual of how to properly enjoy a "puro".
Optional: Join your guide on a visit to 2-3 historically significant bars to learn about the history behind Cuba's most famous traditional cocktails (drinks not included)
