Cuban Adventures is the most developed and sucessful product of the small travel company titled Big Planet Adventures. Big Planet Adventures has the objective of helping grass-roots tourism initiatives in Latin America reach world-wide audiences with personalized service. We seek to facilitate the kind of cultural exchange that is beneficial both to the traveller and the people living in our destination spots.

Our Experience

Our extensive experience living and working throughout Latin America has enabled us to develop a strong bond with the locals, creating the unique relationship necessary for offering travellers specialized adventures that expand their cultural and environmental awareness. We believe that respect for the environment and local cultures and societies is of utmost importance, and our support of local, sustainable tourism in the areas we visit contributes to the conservation of local environments and cultures. Our tour groups are normally limited to a maximum up of 10 people, further ensuring that any impact on the culture and the environment is positive and rewarding for all involved.

At Big Planet Adventures, we operate under specific guidelines created to ensure that our trips promote a positive impact on local environment, culture, and economy. Below is a review as to why we stand out above the rest.

Group Size

The maximum capacity of our small group tours in Cuba is 12 travellers, with a typical group being from 5 to 8 travellers. Small group size ensures a low social and environmental impact on the areas visited and facilitates the best possible cultural experience. Our small groups travel to areas less visited, enlightening our passengers with a unique, local and more authentic experience. Small group tours of a maximum 12 passengers, enables the guide to adhere closely to the needs of each individual.

Accommodations

Because we believe accommodations to be of utmost importance to every tour, we carefully inspect all potential hotels and guest-houses in our tour locations. We have carefully selected our accommodations for cleanliness, comfort, convenient location, safety, local atmosphere, and customer service.

Guides

Big Planet Adventures employs only the best licensed and/or certified local guides. Because we believe that first-hand experience makes a trip authentic, we seek out tour guides native to each specific destination, ensuring that your travel will be a rich cultural experience. These qualified and reputable local tour guides will provide you with practical guidance, while offering priceless insight into the true identity and nature of their homeland. All of our Guides are at least bilingual, speaking as a minimum Spanish and English. All Big Planet Adventures guides receive specific Responsible Tourism training and operate in accordance with the Leave No Trace philosophy, respecting the land and its people.

Tour Operation - Sustainable Tourism Practices

In efforts to promote sustainable tourism, we design each of our itineraries to support local individuals or locally owned businesses. Whenever possible we support local community projects by donating a percentage of our profits.

Home Office Practices

In our daily work practices, we support the ongoing efforts of the recycling industry and only use paper products that average a thirty percent post-consumer recycled content, and print on both sides where possible. We encourage use of alternative transportation, so cycling to the office is the preferred mode.
